Avalon High By Mag Cabot
pages 48-96 Chapter 5-8

A bow-shot from her bower-eaves,
He rode between the barley sheaves,
The sun came dazzling thro' the leaves,
And flamed upon the brazen greaves
Of bold Sir Lancelot. 9th Stanza pages 47-60

All in the blue unclouded weather
Thick-jewell'd shone the saddle-leather,
The helmet and the helmet-feather
Burn'd like one burning flame together,
As he rode down to Camelot. 11th Stanza pages 61-77

She left the web, she left the loom,
She made three paces through the room,
She saw the water-lily bloom,
She saw the helmet and the plume,
She look'd down to Camelot. 13th Stanza pages 78-88

There she weaves by night and day
A magic web with colours gay.
She has heard a whisper say,
A curse is on her if she stay
To look down to Camelot. 5th Stanza pages 89-102

The 9th Stanza is related to when Ellie first meets Will, The smile she gets from him is a smile that someone gives someone they know, but she has neevr met him. Ellie feeling completely comfused goes and relaxs on a raft in her pool. Only to open her eyes to see Will standing at the pool side, watching her.

The 11th Stanza is related to the time that Ellie is on her daily run and she sees Will sitting on the rock in the ravine again, feeling like she should see if he is okay, she goes down there only to find that he is perfectly fine, and they start to talk. The ravine is Camelot.

The 13th Stanza is related to when she is once again on a run and she sees Will in the ravine (camelot) this time she does not stop, but keeps going on her second time around she sees Will standing there waiting for her, they talk and he invites her to his party. Will offers to take her home, on their way they see a lemonade stand and Will goes and buys two cups which are 25 cents each, pays the kids 5 dollars for the two cups and the rose the have out next to the lemonade. He gives Ellie the rose which resembles the plume.

The 5th Stanza is related to when Ellie goes to Will's footbal game and then to his party afterwards, she left her pool (which she is always lounging in) to go see his game, and to attend his party. The loom is her pool. At the game she gets bored but once she sees Will get hurt she feels like she must stay.

Avalon High Meg Cabot
pages 1-47 (chapters 1-5)

Elaine Harrison was named after her moms favorite poem the Lady of Shalott
First two Stanzas from the Poem/Ballad
On either side the river lie
Long fields of barley and of rye,
That clothe the wold and meet the sky;
And through the field the road run by
To many-tower'd Camelot;
And up and down the people go,
Gazing where the lilies blow
Round an island there below,
The island of Shalott.

Willows whiten, aspens quiver,
Little breezes dusk and shiver
Through the wave that runs for ever
By the island in the river
Flowing down to Camelot.
Four grey walls, and four grey towers,
Overlook a space of flowers,
And the silent isle imbowers
The Lady of Shalott.

This section of the poem is setting up the whole setting of Camelot. With the flowers in bloom on an island, it seems like its spring time, and then there it is the huge castle of Camelot, with The Lady of Shalott (Elaine) inside.

Outside Reading Assignment Fourth Quarter

The book that I am going to read is Avalon High by Meg Cabot. I chose this book because Meg Cabot is my favorite author and all of her books are really good. This book is about a girl named Elaine Harrison a junior from St. Paul Minnesota whose parents are professers and this year is their sabbatical (where professers take a year off from teaching to write books) and move to the east coast. Where Ellie meets Will a senior, football quarterback, straight-a student, and when they meet they both feel like they know each other from somewhere, but they don't...do they?

Hope

What hope means

Hope is bright shining light which keeps darkness at the bay
Hope is gentle cold breeze on a hot summer day

Hope is to remain positive when going gets tough
hope is seeking more when others think u had enough

What hope means

Hope is dreaming of tommorow
Hope is simmering under sorrow

Hope is sparkles when tears in our eyes
Hope is a beautiful thing & beutiful things never dies

What hope means

Hope is as light as a feather
Hope keeps all of us together

Hope is ubiquitous and free of cost
hope is the last thing ever lost.....

Vineet Bansal

At least once in your life you will hope for something. Everyone does. And hope is just a way for people to have faith, not is god, but have faith that certain things keep going, start or end.

Phoebe

Catcher In The Rye
Phoebe Caulfield is Holden's younger sister and his foil. She is in the fourth grade at the time Holden leaves Pencey Prep. In some ways, she can be even more mature than him, even criticizing him for childishness, although she clearly idolizes Holden. Holden also idolizes her, in a way. She is the only character who seems to understand her brother's disturbed personality. Near the end of the book, Phoebe attempts to run away with Holden out west. Holden refuses to take her, and in the end he refuses to leave altogether, becoming a "catcher in the rye" for Phoebe.

A 39-year-old Eagan man charged for attempting to blackmail 22 teachers and coaches from area schools was sentenced Friday, Jan. 2, in Dakota County District Court.
Judge Katherine Messerich ordered Eric Leroy Syverson to spend 180 days in jail, five years probation and a pay $300 fine. Syverson was also sentenced to write letters of apology to the victims and complete a psychological and cognitive skills evaluation. He pleaded guilty in September to one count of conspiracy to commit coercion, a felony. According to a Dakota County District Court complaint, on April 16, 2008, Syverson taped letters to the residences of 22 male teachers and coaches in the Rosemount-Apple Valley-Eagan School District and the Burnsville-Eagan-Savage School District. The letters threatened to ruin the men's careers unless they delivered $1,000 cash to a Dakota County park April 18. The perpetrator, who claimed to be a fellow staff member and former police officer, said if the money was not produced he would cause DVDs of adult and child pornography to be found with information to falsely link them to the teacher or coach. Each letter also suggested that a female student might come forward and falsely claim that the teacher or coach was making inappropriate sexual advances, or that a male student might falsely claim that the teacher or coach offered him money for naked pictures.
